Today was the first opportunity I’ve had to share The Skull in a classroom. I had Year 4s and they were completely and utterly rapt. There was a frisson of tension, and some audible intakes of breath, some shocked squeaks at various moments, a constant murmuring of “I love this book!”…….so afterwards, I invited them to give me a one sentence feedback. Here they are (with my editing of spelling!):
I loved the intensity of this book: Hassan
I loved it because I love scary stuff: Ella
I really liked it when they were getting chased:Poppy
The girl was pretty: Elan
I loved The Skull because it was creepy and ominous: Christian
I loved The Skull because it was creepy : Madelyn
I liked it because it was exciting and spooky: Olivia
I loved it because it was creepy: Legend
I liked the skeleton chasing the Skull and the girl: Matilda
Why I liked it, because the Skull is kind and the book’s creepy. And I liked the girl protecting the Skull: Jonathan
I like it because it’s creepy: Saige
