While I really was only vaguely aware of Emma before her books came out (given we haven’t had any kiddos in the Wiggles zone for a decade), I am absolutely loving her books. These two new ones are very much squarely aimed at your younger audience, and so beautifully interactive that your Smalls will love them.

There is everything to love about this dear little board book, from the signing in the end papers (is that end-boards in a board book?) to the lilting text romping through the alphabet with Emma and her friends. Elvin Melvin, Go Go the Goats, Waffles the Wombat and various other friendly (and easily recognisable) animals joining in the fun. It really is quite a simple text but still manages to be super-engaging for little ones from babies upwards to- well, I would think at least 3 years old. In fact, I’d probably share it with older ones just to practise their signing.

Follow up your Emma Memma reading with some crafts, because we all know that kids LOVE making things. This is a super book for making things easy: good instructions, templates to cut out or trace, a lovely variety of both paper craft and nature materials and lots of fun names like Pebble People, Whirling Wheel and Garden Grazing. There are some Fun Facts in the back of the book, and, of course, includes some Auslan and a QR code for Auslan videos to aid those with hearing impairment.
I love them both and while I don’t actually have Smalls of the appropriate age with whom to share them, I do know that they will be well-received – and with Xmas approaching rapidly, what nice stocking stuffers they will make!
Highly recommended for your kiddos from toddler to Prep.
