There is absolutely no sign of the Smalls’ fascination with unicorns, magic, and fairies abating – thank goodness!! We have enough trouble in the world without our Littles losing their love of all things sparkly.
Sally Odgers has long proven her skill in writing highly engaging and accessible adventures for those newly independent readers, who are venturing beyond simple picture books into their first chapter books. And Pearl fits the bill perfectly.
With the dynamic fonts, and highlights in hot pink plus the super-cute illustrations from Adele K. Thomas helping to support the reader as well as bring the story to life, you would be well-advised to buy multiples of this one – and naturally, the earlier ones in the series! Essentially these are exactly the sorts of books that fly off the shelves as soon as they have been returned to them.
Pearl thinks she has created some stunning pink tulips and is well pleased, but an outbreak of sneezing amongst everybody is putting rather a dampener on things. Now they are trying to find out more about the ‘achoo-tulips’.
When Pearl and her friends discover that the flowers are really the result of Floss the Flower Fairy’s magic and the result of trying to keep the nasty gobble-uns at bay, they need to persuade Floss that it’s not just gobble-uns who sneeze as soon as they smell the flowers. What a shame that the pretty pink flowers need to be un-magicked but luckily Pearl is able to really produce some alternatives – of the non-sneezing kind.
This is a delightful story which will bring much joy to those readers from around 6 years up. And let’s fact it we could all use a little unicorn magic in our everyday lives – a big 4 🦄🦄🦄🦄 for Pearl!
