I’ve had such a backlog of PBs stacked up (two boxes)and not because I didn’t want to read and review them, simply because there have been many MG and YA novels pushing their way into my bedtime reading schedule.
My mission over the next few weeks is to go hard on the PBs with just a few novels interspersed and it seems to make sense (and also because I’m a thematic kinda gal) to run with a certain thread.
And what better way to kick off the focus on picture books than with a theme of happy-ness, because after all – they do bring so much happiness to so many, from tiny toddlers to the grown-ups who love them. And who better to kick off a spate of happy-ness than the always joyful Emma Quay – because how many of us have habitually referenced Rudie Nudie in our everyday lives for a decade?
And here we go again, with the absolutely unbridled joy in small things that we come across – or, at least, those small things that make Smalls happy. Because sadly all too often as adults we lose our exuberance in those little sparks of happy especially when we were all caught up in the web of work and family and bills and traffic and the general hoi-polloi making us crazy.
Time for us all to stop and recognise the glimmers in our days when they occur. For me, it’s being able to drive along the sea front every single day and look out across the bay, spotting a bird I’ve never seen before, hugs from The Kid, laughing at the antics of the Demon Spawn aka Whiskers ๐, a funny message from Mr Surfer or a well-cooked lamb chop along with a myriad others.
It’s an entirely joyous rhyming romp through a Small’s day and it will bring smiles galore to your readers or the tinies in your circle – I think this one is destined for little Miss Daisy, who is 5 months old today. I highly recommend it to you with a huge 5 ๐๐๐๐๐ rating.
Happy on the inside,
inside-out.
Happy all over –
splash it all about.
