  1. While in all honesty I’m not good at reading these sorts of stories, I do know they ought to be told. My father was also in bomber command (how lucky we are tbey returned!) and just recently, the NAA added digitised enlistment photos to their online files. I saw our Dad as a raw 25 year old for the first time, along with records of his service etc. Your Father Bear is probably there too, but these newly added photos tell all.

  2. I must go have a look. I did download his documents years ago and I have a lot of photos that he kept (I took all the memorabilia after he died) plus ephemera like dance tickets, dinner menus, photos of bombs dropping (they weren’t supposed to bring those back!), his ‘escape’ photo’ etc. All of that has been scanned and is with his squadron for their records. Dad’s skipper was only 22!! They called him the Old Man :-). I’m in the 514 squadron group on FB – which squadron was your dad Lyn?
