This is a very cute story of Christmas from two very different perspectives. One Koala lives in Mallacoota, along with his best friend Too (a cockatoo, of course). Their tree is their home, They have ocean views and it is a quiet place to live.
Cousin Olavi lives in Lapland, almost right next door to Santa Claus. You could not imagine two more different locations at Christmas. One is sunny, bright and hot. One is snowy, cold and dark. Naturally, each koala is happy with their home and with their way of doing Christmas but sometimes things can get confusing.
When Mallacoota Koala write his letter to Santa, he very specifically says no socks thanks (it’s just too hot for socks!). Instead he’d really like some fins so he can swim faster. But oh oh!! there’s a mix up. Seems like the best solution is to invite Olavi to Mallacoota for Xmas – that will save Santa any confusion!
This is really, really fun It’s a sweet and simple story, and the illustrations are just delightful – I think this is my first look at Consuelo’s work and I’m keen to see more.
Lots of fun for Smalls from around Prep upwards and a great start to looking at difference in celebrations. My very first prac teaching proper ‘unit of work’ was two weeks focused on Christmas in other Countries. It was fun, it was good learning and such a joy to put together [gone are those days when we had real fun both teaching and learning!]. This is a terrific book to add into your own Xmas repertoire. And it gets the full 5 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 rating from me. EDIT: I shared this with Preppies last week, and it got a big thumbs up from them. They were unanimous in their requests for NO socks thanks Santa!
