Yes, I know. It’s not a Christmas book and while we do get snow, it’s not generally at Christmas time – but! Snowmen have become such an icnonic symbol of Xmas all over that it seemed a good idea to add this one to the countdown.
This is Bunny and Bird #3 and again, this pair gently amble their way through a narrative that will appeal greatly to your quirkier and more astute Smalls.
Bird is confused when Bunny wants to make a snowman with Wombat but gets waylaid explaining all about the magic hole he’s found in the forest. Tall tales ensue as Bunny describes all the wild animals that are in the hole, each of which – strangely enough – contribute something to the snowman, which the reader sees being created behind the two friends.
It’s a strange tale for sure but nonetheless charming. Certainly, it’s another ridiculously fun look at friendship that Smalls from 4 upwards will enjoy. I fell in love with Bland’s work with The Wrong Book and have loved everything since then – always that wonderful touch of absurdity and some terrifically idiosyncratic artwork. It gets a 5 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄rating from me.
