Peter Sellers may have coined it but I’ve used it for a gazillion years to mean anything from edible goodies to just special things in general. Seems appropriate in this context as I have a stash of bird books to share over the next week or so. It’s still a way off for this year’s Aussie Bird Count but it’s never too soon to start planning a display and a promotion. As I have mentioned before it was 1994 and my first year of teaching when I got my Year 5s involved in what was to become this annual event. Some were townies, some were on farms but they all absolutely loved doing their little bird survey each day and so proud when we sent off our results. Why not get your kiddos involved? You could also start a read-aloud of Morris Gleitzman’s Tweet – which was one of my faves from last year.
