Insight into The National GatheringThe Foundation for Aboriginal and Islander Research Action (FAIRA) warmly invites you to join us in a webinar exploring insights into The National Gathering.A week ago more than 300 delegates attended a national gathering of First Nations (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander) Traditional Custodians in Far North Queensland.The three-day meeting discussed the need for a national representative body and considered structures and features of a representative body.The meeting was open for all persons to register and attend. Delegates from Land Councils and Native Title Prescribed Body Corporates were assisted financially to attend the meeting whilst other delegates were to be financed through their organisations and communities.FAIRA is hosting this webinar to learn more information about the purpose of the gathering and outcomes.

Tony McAvoy
, Senior Council, is a proud Wirdi man from Central Queensland and currently a part-time Commissioner of the Australian Law Reform Commission inquiring into the Native Title Act 1993. Tony is a member of the team leading the National Gathering event.

, a proud and strong Kalkadoon woman from Cloncurry, is Director for the Pitta Pitta Aboriginal Corporation based in Boulia.

anine Gertz is a Research Fellow at the University of Queensland’s Centre for Indigenous Futures. Janine has cultural connections to Gugu Badhun and Ngadjonji in North and Far North Queensland.





Les Malezer
 is from the Butchulla peoples and Kabi Kabi peoples in Southeast Queensland. Les is recognised in Australia and internationally for his lifetime of work to promote and defend the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Australia and internationally.
