Any book with this pairing of creators is so unlikely to need my recommendation because, let’s face it their names alone will guarantee it flying off shelves across the country.
But, regardless, let me go on with this feeble attempt to do it some kind of justice. We love ABC books and we especially love them if they are really engaging and go beyond the mere letters. I love the jumbo sized letters on each spread and the judicious use of white space so that the entire focus is on both letter and significant word – and the pictured animal.
Just as this one does as it provides the little readers with a wide cast of our native fauna, each engaged in a fun or tricky activity while Koala seeks out a playmate. Poor Koala! Everyone else is busy – playing mandolins and violins, or jumping puddles and wanting cuddles or fishing in the creek and playing hide-and-seek and on it goes, right to very end of the alphabet when little Zebra Finch most definitely wants to play! Hooray!
A perfect little Aussie-themed rhyming ABC for your youngest Smalls, especially those setting out on their reading journey. A Big Colourful 5 🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨 rating for this delight.
