It is even more so when that friend is a near-neighbour, Sunshine Coast writer Alison D. Stegert. I have been waiting for quite a long time to get my hands on this one, especially…

  • Catch Your Breath – Ravena Guron

Harper Collins Australia March 2024 ISBN: 9781803705422 ISBN 10: 1803705426 Imprint: Usborne GB RRP: $19.99 I really do love me a good cozy murder mystery, going right back to when I had almost every single Agatha Christie title, so I’m absolutely relishing this trend in YA fiction. This is the second of this author’s books I’ve read [see…

  • This Book Kills – Ravena Guron

I have news for them. It has been for quite a few years now as any of the devotees of Karen McManus, Holly…

Although I…

But it is certainly a ripper of a finale, with another very clever blend of historical…

  • Being Jimmy Baxter – Fiona Lloyd

Penguin Australia ISBN: 9781760148515 Imprint: Puffin RRP: $16.99 This is often a very funny book. This is often a very moving book. I ate it up in one sitting because Jimmy’s story is one that demands to be read. Jimmy is not so good with school stuff, and he has a kind of innocence in his thinking…

From start to finish (and I binge read it one sitting) it is charming, sweet and fun. Amanda Graham’s knack for creating endearing characters and plots remains true (who…

Penguin Australia Published: 31 January 2023 ISBN: 9780143779247 Imprint: Puffin RRP: $16.99 Oh Friday, you just get betterer and betterer! Readers will remember my anecdote of the dismay felt by my coterie of Friday fans, when the ‘last’ in the (original) series was announced, and was confirmed by my (then) recent conversation with Rachel over afternoon tea. Subsequently –…
