It’s big and bold and beautiful and essentially, it’s a call to arms for even the Smalls to step up and be protective of our precious environment. I love that the artwork – and I’m not familiar with this visual artist’s work – is so striking and arresting.

With the large upper case fonts and the graphic illustrations filling each spread, it conveys to kiddos how our country is so expansive I think, and also, it showcases our wildlife and nature with it taking the spotlight on each page.

The colour palette is also well-suited, echoing those colours found in nature, to this topic, and while the illos are ‘cartoon’ style they are also close to realistic depictions.

I’m excited to share this one with some kiddos coming up to an event with which I’m involved in a few weeks time because I think it will really resonate with even the youngest. It’s a fab book to share just because, but even more to share with purpose to inspire the children to get excited about looking after the plants, animals and insects.

Certainly, as a resource for your units on the environment, living things etc it will prove a valuable addition. I’m giving it a 5 🐝🌳🦘🌊🌏.
