Adorable Claris is back as the flowers bloom in Paris and the joy of Easter is at hand. When Megan Hess expanded her repertoire of fashion, art and design to include little Claris, it was a genius stroke. Nearly a dozen titles later and this tiny fashionista has charmed her way into the hearts of little girls in legion.
There is no doubt that the prettiness of these books combined with the always good fun rhyming stories have been a sure-fire winner with the little ones from around 4 upwards.
In this one, Claris and Monsieur plan to fly their kite in the early morning quiet of the Tuileries Gardens, where the annual Easter Egg hunt is held. There they discover a very distressed Easter Bunny, who has got herself thoroughly tangled in some bushes. She is so upset about not being able to hide all the eggs. So, it’s Claris to the rescue.
While Monsieur sets about untangling Easter Bunny, Claris leaps into the air with her kite and a basket of eggs. She follows up this by riding on a leaping frog’s back and then soaring on a dove until all the eggs are safely in place. Thank goodness! The Easter Egg Hunt is saved.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Claris without some fashion wizardry so she whisks the Easter Bunny off to her atelier where she not only mends the rabbit’s torn dress, but improves it with flair and style. All problems now solved, the trio sit down to a delicious Easter brunch in the gardens and watch all the fun of the egg hunt.
Little ones will love this story as much as the others and its very sweetness makes it a perfect choice for an Easter gift to sit alongside all that chocolate. I have to make mention of the delicious endpapers as well – très bien! It’s a perfect non-chocolate Easter choice for Smalls and it gets a 4 🐭🐭🐭🐭rating from me.
