Like a bush turkey manically constructing his nesting mound to lure all the single ladies, this is rather chaotic and crazy – but then, it is Kate and Jol Temple! When Bush Turkey starts on his nest he kicks up a shiny gold egg that he knows is not his. And then he finds more in the same yard, so scooping them off he takes off to find their rightful owners.
Naturally, the Dad who spots him from the house, making off with the eggs for the Easter hunt is wild and gives chase. Through parks and streets without finding any claimants, BT finally vaults a fence and lands splat! scattering all the eggs across the yard. A bunny congratulates him for getting the eggs to their destination and all is calm again.
I love the Bush Turkey books but I do confess this isn’t my favourite. The rhymes were a little awkward at times and I was disappointed that it wasn’t a bilby congratulating BT on his egg delivery but that being said, the kids will still love it a lot – and laugh a lot. It’s a 3 🥚🥚🥚from me.
