A fortnight ago I wrote a detailed review of this gorgeous book which the blog promptly ‘lost’ and even after contacting support, couldn’t be retrieved. So let’s just start all over again. I loved this book at first sight. The whole mid-century vibe of the artwork just sang to me and I believe it would also do so for your readers, who always seem to enjoy that same aesthetic.
Take a look at the sample pages and you will see how well this will fit with any unit of work on environmental issues, renewables, urban planning or changes in societies. But further to that, we have so many kids now who are keen to make a difference and contribute to helping the planet’s delicate balance. If you also grab the book I reviewed not long ago Be The Change you will have a perfect pair of companion titles.
I particularly love the latter pages which kick off with ‘Imagine if…‘ which will inspire readers to think of their own solutions or suggestions for working towards a greener urban environment. There is an excellent page on the people i.e. careers that work towards this professionally, which could become a goal for many young enthusiasts and there is also additional material suggesting ways in which kiddos can help right now, along with an excellent glossary.
I give this one top marks for your environmental studies/local area/HASS studies and a very green 5 ๐ณ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ฑ rating for readers from around middle primary up to Year 7 or 8.
