Following up on the earlier two in this series we have two more titles to add to your kitbag for inclusion in your circle time or social justice type sessions particularly. As always I repeat that as educators we must strive to empower our small humans with the values and beliefs we want them to demonstrate as adults. This being so means that classrooms, playgrounds and homes become more harmonious as well.
These two new ones have lessons well worth sharing [indeed, I can think of many applications across adult sectors to whom we should send copies] all couched in Zanni’s engaging and accessible text with the most delightful illustrations from Jingting Wang, which have that mid-century vibe I love so much. They are colourful and cute and, at the same time, encapsulate the meaning of the text so well.
Of course, these sit comfortably on your shelves or in book boxes for general reading but I certainly see them as being the most valuable in targeted sessions which you could follow up with some meaningful activities including role play, some kind of ‘gotcha’ acknowledgement or perhaps, as in some schools I know, a whole school ‘value of the week/month’ focus.
Lovely to read, lovely to look at and also lovely to hold – gorgeous textured hardbacks! – I happily give them a 5🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰rating for Smalls from Prep upwards to mid-primary. Coming up soonish – Fairness and Friendship so keep your eyes and orders open!
