Two talented creators teaming up with a result of this gorgeous book. It’s sweet and satisfying. I love – LOVE – that the rhyming text has such lovely cadence and, at no point, comes across as contrived or forced, but has a gentle and soothing flow to it.
Some of us call them ‘glimmers’ – the tiny good things that happen each and every day if one only stops long enough to notice them. It becomes a habit when we make an effort to do so, and it really does help to take away from the ugliness that surrounds us in the news and society and the world at large.
Reading and rainbows, bubbles and bears, stars and superpowers – finding delight in small moments and joy in our connections with each other is the theme of this gem. Whether it’s a significant adult and childin tandem, as is the case in this charming book or some other relationship we have in our lives, or just by ourselves, there are always the tiny good things, if only we take note of them.
Gabrielle Tozer‘s range from picture books to YA to journalism is always impressive and local creator, Sophie Beer, is similarly multi-talented. I have had the privilege of writing supporting notes for both for previous books.
This is a book that sits easily with your very young readers as well as older ones – especially as we encourage them to seek out the positives around them. I happily give it a 5 glimmer🌈🐦🔥🪴🏖️🐈⬛rating for readers from EC upwards.
