I haven’t been ‘going’ far from home given the uncertainty of petrol for a while and I have certainly missed my bookish events but absolutely couldn’t pass up the chance for last night’s BtW with Peter Carnavas, James Foley, Jayne McIntyre and the added bonus of Katrina Nannestad popping in.
As usual, it was a super evening and I enjoyed seeing many regular t-l faces there and chatting as well as meeting some new people. It was great to meet Elise Ellerman for the first time – we had quite a bit to chat about and I’m sure there will be more. And I also met Maraya from Harper Collins, which was lovely. There were lots of laughs and some fascinating insights into each author’s process.
Of course, I’m pretty familiar with some as I’ve written several sets of teaching notes for some of Katrina’s books and also the notes for Jayne’s amazing Feathers of Farwood and the Gripps Curse. But it was my first F2F meeting with James Foley – who really is a hoot and every bit as funny as his books [stay posted for the review of Oh No! coming up this weekend!].
Thanks again to Anna and Therese who make these evenings so welcoming and enjoyable for us all as a little escape from our often humdrum daily grind.
