Just So Stories

Last weekend I decided I needed new swimwear for the trip to Vanuatu which The Kid are taking to celebrate my birthday in October. I found an amazing local Brisbane company OceanRoad Swimwear. I knew it was legit local because the first pic I saw was the aqua instructor at the local Redcliffe Memorial Pool.

I ordered Capri swimpants and a top and, I kid you not, despite it being a weekend order, they were delivered Tuesday morning and I love them! I had emails straight away from Tanya, owner and creator, along with an invitation to be one of their models.

So yesterday, we combined our usual day trip for the Fish to surf, with the most fun hour I’ve spent in a long time! And, ridiculously synchronistic, the photo shoot was at Currimundi lake, so a ten minute walk from where we usually hang out, when she’s surfing. I just LOVE that the models are ‘real’ women – all different sizes and ages. And we all know that while there are plenty of dental floss togs (and OMG do we not get more than an eyeful even here in Reddy – and some of it really not very pleasant), it is far more difficult to find stylish, comfortable, and modest swimwear for those who don’t want to parade around basically naked.

I can’t wait to get some more! As most of my friends know in the summer I’m in the water a lot with aqua fitness but also at the beach up the coast a lot when K surfs. Check them out! A bunch of my friends are already perusing the selection.

But you might want to wait a couple of weeks before ordering because I can tell you that the various combos I tried on yesterday were just gorgeous and I’ve already earmarked two sets!!

Thanks to The Kid who took some happy snaps of us goofing around and thanks to Tanya for the invitation, and her other half, Rich, who was the photographer – I hope he does as well as K did!!

It was also timely as we could deliver Mr Surfer’s birthday present, given his special 0 day is coming up at the end of this week (tee hee! a month older than me, Johnny!) Happy birthday to the G.O.A.T. mi’lord Cyril!
