And this one, dear readers, is my top pick of this year’s batch for Father’s Day. It is the pièce de résistance with absolutely perfect rhyme – the cadence and flow is just magical! – and stunning illustrations full of action and expression.

Showing dads in all their aspects – the doofus side, the loving side, the protector side, the hilarious side, the trickster side, the tough side, the marshmallow, the grandpa side – this one has it all in abundance and I just love the dads shown. From the dad with plaits to the dad with tatts, the prankster who dressed up as a toilet-paper wrapped mummy to the moustachioed one dressed as a princess sharing stories.

The entire thing is one utterly delightful romp through the wide diversity of dads and kiddos. Deborah Frenkel has 100% nailed this one with both her excellent rhyming text and her quirky observations of dads who ‘chat sideways‘, ‘love a good fact‘…’Some dads are born and some dads are made.’ Daniel’s illustrations fit the whole vibe like a bespoke glove and the end papers with the portraits of all the dads with kids is just killer.

Your readers will enjoy it just as much and I foresee many little voices calling out ‘That’s just like MY dad!’. LOVE this one to bits!! Not a minute’s hesitation in giving this one an outstanding Father of the Year 5 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆rating. Do NOT miss it! Happy Father’s Day to all!
