Here’s another great one to add to your teaching tool kit. Those inevitable water cycle units can always use a burst of freshness can’t they? And Stef Gemmil’s narrative of a single drop’s journey around the cycle makes the learning a bit of fun as well as providing valuable and revelatory information [even some adults might learn something new!].
Follow Drop’s odyssey from mountain top down to the ocean, up to the sky, back down to earth and onto the water filtration plant and more. Learn the important subject specific vocabulary like evaporation and transpiration and find out about floods and droughts. Drop’s journey will have readers quite fascinated – they would probably love to follow along down the pipes and up to the clouds actually!
Mel Armstrong’s illos are cartoonish enough to be of appeal to the readers while also closely resembling real life in some aspects. The stages are summarised diagrammatically in the back matter along with some straight information. A very useful and, at the same time, entertaining book to add to this topic. I’m giving it a 5 ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง๐งtop drop rating for readers from Prep upwards.
